Evaluation of the Landsat-8 Albedo Product across the Circumpolar Domain

Land surface albedo plays an extremely important role in the energy budget, by determining proportion of incoming solar radiation, which is available to drive photosynthesis and heating, that reflected directly back space. In northern high latitude regions, snow-covered vegetation open, leafless forest canopies winter, quite high, while boreal evergreen conifers can either be low (even with extensive snow lying under canopy) or rather bright depending on structure density canopy. Here, we present further development evaluation a 30 m Landsat product, including operational blue-sky for application circumpolar domain. The reflectances from satellite constellation are coupled anisotropy information (Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function, BRDF) MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). product extensively validated across diverse land cover conditions performs well root mean squared error 0.0395 negligible bias when compared coincident tower-based measurements. this products allows better capture ephemeral, heterogeneous dynamic at landscape scale
